Our Mission For High Definition Composite (HDC)
Exterior doors are one of the most important parts of a house. They are the means by which you enter the house and protect it against the weather of the outside. Exterior doors also reflect the nature of the homeowner through its design.
The door market first began with classic wooden doors. These doors did their job well, and people loved the visual vintage beauty of their wooden doors. However, wood maintenance became a nightmare after the door was installed for a period of time due to the wood breaking down through warping, cracking, termites, etc.
About a quarter of a decade later, new materials saw use in the door market, such as steel, aluminum, vinyl, and fiberglass. While these solved problems that the wooden door faced, these materials fell short as well. They varied in durablity or lifespan, were more expensive, and often created new problems for homeowners altogether. And ultimately, the appealing wooden texture was lost.
What is High Definition Composite (HDC)?
HDC, which is mainly formulated by polyurethane and various organic materials mixed together. Polyurethanes were invented back in the 1930s by Professor Dr. Otto Bayer (1902-1982). There are various types of Polyurethanes, which look and feel very different from each other. They are used in a diversity of products, from coatings and adhesives to shoe soles, mattresses and foam insulation. However, the basic chemistry of each type is essentially the same. Widespread use of polyurethanes was first seen during World War II, when they were utilized as a replacement for rubber.
Now, HPC has environmental performance and energy criteria in product evaluations through a “systems” approach, using recognized life cycle analysis tools that include the entire “use” phase. Sustainable product criteria that reflect consensus-based decision-making, best available science, transparency, and openness to ALL stakeholders.
Finally, our HDC doors are made of rigid polyurethane foam and polyisocyanurate (polyiso) foams, creating one of the world's most popular, energy-efficient and versatile insulations. These foams can significantly cut energy costs while making commercial and residential properties more efficient and comfortable.
